afterthebirthofhersecondchild,scarlettloseshersecondhusband,too.thenshemarriesrhettbutler,whomshe“hates”much,andherneighborhoodhatethoroughly.naturally,sheiscriticizedterribly.buttothecloseofthenovel,sheloseshimwhenshefinallyfindsthathowmuchshedependsonhimandloveshim—“shemusthavelovedrhettallalong,asanadultloves,notasagirlloves”(dawson,10).rhettbutler,a〝rogue〞,scarlett’smalecounterpart,arenegadearistocratoriginallyfromcharleston,asreprehensibleasscarlettinmorals,butmuchhersuperiorbyreasonofhisromanticallycynicalintelligence(john,253).“wheneverscarlett’sgumptionfails,whensheneedsmoney,rescue,consolation,orchallenge,rhettbutlerappears”heissopowerfulthatscarlettevenwantstobeamanasstrongashim.withrhettbesideher,shedoesnotfearanything.asweallknow,scarlettlovesrhettforhissagacity,factualism,andmuscularity.morethansheloveshim,rhettfallsinlovewithscarlettthefirsttimehesawher.butheknowsher,atleasthethinksso,sheis“sobrutaltothosewholoveyou,scarlett.youtaketheirloveandholditovertheirheadslikeawhip”(margaret,1003).heiswillingto,indeedhedoes,anddoeverythingforherexcepttellingherhelovesher.hesupportsherandridiculesher,helpsherandleavesher.perhapsrhettreallyknowsscarlett’sorwomen’scharactersmuch,however,hedoesnotknow,orfailstograsp,scarlett’sheart.asfoolishasscarlettis,rhettbelievesthatherheartbelongstoashleywilkes,alwaysandforever.healsodoesnotrealizethatashleyis“ayounggirl’sdreamoftheperfectknight...”(floyd,97).(heremeansbeforemelanie’sdeath).

ashleywilkes,thelastcharactertobediscussed,hasbeenscarlett’slovershehasdreamedformanyyears.thesameasscarlett,hethinksthathelovesscarlett,too.hethinkshelovesherforsheis“sofineandstrongandgood,”sobeautiful,notjusthersweetface,butallofher,herbodyandhermindandhersoul(margaret,270).heeventellsher“iloveyou,yourcourageandyourstubbornnessandyourfineandyourutterruthlessness.howmuchdoiloveyou?somuchthatamomentagoiwouldhaveoutragedthehospitalityofthehousewhichhasshelteredmeandmyfamily,forgottenthebestwifeanymaneverhad,enoughtotakeyouhereinthemudlikea...”(margaret,520).alsowhilemelanieisdyinghefinallyrealizesthathisloverismelanie.isn’tthattoolate?

bothashleyandmelanieareanachronismsastheresultofthedisruptionofthewar(dawson,14).theoldorder,thelifeoftraditionis,ofcourse,representedinthem.thewilkesesarebookworms,theyalwayssendoffforbooksofpoetry,takeeuropeantours,andmarrytheircousins.theirplantation,twelveoaks,iseverythingromanticistswouldliketobelieveabouttheoldsouth.

nowwesee,scarlettandrhett,thetwostrongfigures,andmelanieandashley,thetwoweakones,“wereproductsofexternalcharacterizationratherthanpsychologicalmotivation,yettheygavetheappearanceofrealityinmannersanddialogue,seemingtobeshapedbyinnerstressesandsocialforcesratherthanbyprefabricatedtemperaments”(jamesd,263).onlythosewhoadaptthemselvestothechangescansurvive,eveniftheyaredifferentintheoldtime.theweakonesaredestinedtobeeliminated.

时代女性范文

作为女同胞中的一员,我认为要当好新时代的女性,不外乎2个方面:家庭与事业,这2方面是相辅相成的,其中家庭是事业的基础,只有家庭温馨和睦,才会有充沛的精力投入工作。事业是家庭的保证。一个没有事业、依附于他人而存在的人,无论是在社会上还是在家庭中都不可能真正得到别人的尊重的,甚至不可能得到丈夫、子女的尊重。

人们常说:女人是家庭的支柱,因此作为新时代的女性,首先要扮演好妻子、母亲、媳妇等多种角色,处理好夫妻、婆媳、母子或母女等多种关系。而要扮演好这些的角色,还是一门较大的学问。但假如我们把婚姻当作了索取和交换,只想得到,而不想去付出。那么得到的,只能是永无休止的不满足和由此而产生的烦恼。因此在生活中,作为家庭主角的妇女,我们要用一颗真诚、理解、宽容的心,去构建一个温馨的家庭。

同时作为新世纪女性,我认为我们应该是一个自信、自强的人,像我们学校女教师的人数远远超过了男教师,女教师的能力和素质的高低,决定了学校将来发展的水平。为此我认为起码要从以下几方面做起。做个适应时展的要求、自强自立、自尊自爱的新女性。

一、做一个学习型女教师。

渊博的学识是真正立足社会之本。只有不断地提高自己,扩大自己的知识面,才能不被时代淘汰,才有资格当一个好老师。这就要求教师与时俱进,学习不止,做适应时代要求的学习型教师。通过学习来“更新”,“充电”,“提升”,“完善”自我,通过学习来影响造就学生。假如你停止了学习的步伐,学生是新的,教案是老的,这绝对不行,最终被淘汰出局。

二、做一个有素质女教师。
